SIGN THE PETITION TO SAVE PHOG LOUNGE

HELP SAVE WINDSOR-LOCAL CULTURAL HUB PHOG LOUNGE! SIGN HERE!

from the petition page:

“SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR PHOG ‼️ sign this petition if you’ve ever experienced the beauty of ART and COMMUNITY at PHOG ‼️‼️

Musicians, artists, poets, and members of community gather to see live music every night of the week, and take in the monthly art show at Phog Lounge, and partake in art among friends on a WEEKLY basis!

Since its opening in 2004, Phog Lounge has been one of the only bookable venues in Windsor, Ontario for travelling musicians, and artists! For local creatives, legitimizes their artistic careers by offering up monthly use of their walls, and weekly space to their stage equipment for musicians ‼️

Events like the weekly Open Mic Surgery, Faking Requests ft. Mark Calcott, Wednesdays Arts&Crafts, and in the past, button-making nights, artist workshops, and so much more you would be here for another hour reading about all the artists they literally employ. Artists get opportunities to WORK because of Phog Lounge! They don’t even have to do it, they just DO because they have the SPACE ‼️

It’s a place where community thrives among art! Help save PHOG because who else is doing it like them ⁉️

The signatures on this petition will be taken to Windsor’s City Council meeting come October 1st, to justify why Phog Lounge needs to be labelled a historical landmark in Windsor, Ontario.”

Every opportunity I’ve been given as an artist has been because of the exposure I’ve received at Phog Lounge. This creative hub, venue, and otherwise wormhole of good vibes has given so many artists the chance to share their work!! Same with musicians! And POETS!!

Art doesn’t exist without community, and Phog Lounge fosters community!!

Colors of Resilience: An Exhibit Showcasing Artwork by Those Experiencing Homelessness

A curated collection of works done by people who are without homes. “Creativity is a macro-asset of the homeless community in Windsor” - local social service worker. Hyper-surrealist artist, Ann Reno, was discovered among the lineup, and served as the inspiration for this project. Reno’s work made me think that if she was exposed to the same opportunities I was exposed to, maybe she’d have different life circumstances. That spread to other members of this community, as well, and thus was born the idea of the Exhibit.

Project made possible through City of Windsor’s Arts, Cultural, Heritage Fund Grant, first round of funding, 2023
